Beloved of the Soul

The "Beloved of the Soul" prayer book is a treasure trove of the kabbalistic ancient wisdom with its careful selection of daily prayers. This unique Siddur allows the reader to explore spiritual concepts while facilitating a rich, full-bodied and transcendent prayer experience. It is a welcoming window into deep prayer, which becomes nourishment for the soul. This prayer book is as much food for the soul as it is a feast for the eyes. It is a polished gem that will give your day a richer meaning.

The Prayer Book is divided into two clearly defined sections – Mystical Insights and Soulful Prayers - allowing the reader to explore spiritual concepts in detail, or if preferred, to embark immediately on a prayer journey. The ideas and concepts interweave and dovetail, so when read in tandem, facilitate a rich, transcendent prayer experience.

Mystical Insights

  • The nature of our physical world is dense. Its hard shell of materiality makes it difficult to penetrate. But what we seek is not in this external world, ‘up there’ or ‘out there’. The Divine Presence is within us, and can be reached ‘in here’. In the deepest recesses of each of us is a tiny, vulnerable space where we can create a sanctuary for Divinity. This in-dwelling place is inside. Hashem touches us in this space.
  • Prayer is a spiritual midwife, assisting the birth of our ultimate dreams and aspirations into the world. It is not a monologue, but rather a space for profound dialogue. Our prayers are heard, and through prayer we open ourselves to hear. Hashem is always listening, but it is especially during the time of prayer that we encounter this infinite Presence. Prayer is the time we take and the space we make to hear the Creator speaking to us and through us.
  • I find my truth by telling my own story. For what we all share in common is our uniqueness. On Rosh Hashana, the New Year, we recite the prayer to be ‘inscribed in the book of life’. According to the chassidic Rebbe of Slonim, Rabbi Sholom Noach Berezovsky, what this really means is that I must ‘write myself in the book of (my) life’! I must become the creative artist whose greatest creation is my own life. I must live my story, and be the author and hero-ine of my own tale. By embracing my unique, personal story, I get to the One who entreats me, and invites me by placing the pen in my hand. My essence is revealed, and my story becomes sacred. In this way I become part of the cosmic scroll.

Your Siddur has become such a treasure and beautiful guide for us, enhancing meditation and thought when connecting. It has been one of the best purchases last year and will continue feeding our souls with ideas and inspiration.

“Beloved of the Soul” has been an amazing gateway to the Jewish prayer experience for me. Sara takes complicated ideas and puts them across in an accessible and meaningful manner. The book managed to help create connection, where previously I had felt conflicted about certain prayers and what I presumed they meant.
